Haikuró is an online archive of a yearlong personal project of writing at least one micropoetry (traditional or modern haiku) per day which will then be compiled into a collection.
Once completed, the plan is to transform these haikus into visuals by myself or in collaboration with image-makers.
Why
Haikuró comes from weaving two words together: haiku and kuró.
Haiku /ˈhīˌko͞o/ is a type of short form poetry originally from Japan, while kuró is a Filipino term that has several meanings: "belief, estimate, opinion, point of view, imagination or reckoning."
Who
Sherwin/Ish is a multidisciplinary writer. He holds a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in Art Studies (Interdisciplinary) from the University of the Philippines and a double post-graduate degree (with distinction) in International Performance Research from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom and the University of Arts, Belgrade, Serbia, respectively under the Erasmus Mundus programme. His literary works have appeared in several journals, anthologies, and magazines, both print and online, published by, to cite a few, The Pine Cone Review, Oranbeg Press, McMaster University's The Muse, Open Skies Quarterly, Sparks of Calliope, Coin-Operated Press, Up!, and Shorts.
